Getting around Honolulu and  O‘ahu

CAR RENTALS
Various car rental companies (Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Thifty) have onsite and offsite rent-a-car office at the Honolulu International Airport. Some also have offices in Waikiki.

THE BUS

O‘ahu's bus system, logically dubbed "TheBUS," offers island-wide service.

One-way fare:
  • $2.75 for adults
  • $1.25 for youths (children 5 and under free)
  • $1.00 for seniors & persons with Disability ID cards

1-day pass (ask your bus operator for the 1-Day Pass before placing your money in the fare box).
  • $5.50 for adults
  • $2.50 for youths (children 5 and under free)
  • $2.00 for seniors & persons with Disability ID cards

​Bus lines that service the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa include #4, #6, and #13 (best option between Waikiki and UH).


IMPORTANT NOTE: People carrying large suitcases or baggage are not allowed on TheBUS. If you have smaller items, you can ride on the bus. Click here for baggage rules for The Bus.
